Origin: GERMANY
GENERAL INFORMATION
Type of wine: Gewürztraminer
Alcohol Content: 10,5%
In the Palatine village Rhodt there is a 100% Gewürztraminer vineyard, of about 400 years of age. This monument of wine culture itself shows that the Gewürztraminer is one of the oldest, still cultivated type of vine.
Some scientists think of a Greek origin. There is no proof that the village Tramin in South Tyrol can be seen as the origin of the vine ́s name. However, in the 15th century Traminer was sold as Communion wine to the monasteries. Historical documents show that this type of vine already existed in Germany in the 16th century. There was a recommendation to cultivate this type of wine.
